Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey! On the July 17 episode of "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," Kate Hudson dropped some interesting details about her experience with McConaughey’s unique scent.

So, here's what went down. Andy Cohen, reading a fan-submitted question, asked Kate, "Was that old urban legend true that you forced Matthew McConaughey to wear deodorant while filming Fool’s Gold?" Kate's response was quite surprising. She said, "No. He doesn’t wear deodorant, and by the way, I don’t either." Can you believe it?
Hudson went on to confess that she could smell McConaughey "from a mile away," and they got really close while filming. It turns out, the origin of this rumor might have come from McConaughey himself. In a past Playboy interview, McConaughey mentioned that Hudson would always ask him to use a salt rock to help eliminate odors. However, he never obliged.

But all is well because, according to Hudson, they’re both "au naturels." She laughed as she shared this tidbit, revealing that they both embrace their natural scents.
McConaughey is famously known for being anti-deodorant. In his 2005 PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive cover story, he mentioned that he hadn’t used an odor-masking product in 20 years because he believes a man should smell like “a man.” He added that the women in his life, including his mother, never complained about his “natural smell” because it’s uniquely his.

Even his "Tropic Thunder" co-star, Yvette Nicole Brown, weighed in on the subject. She said that she got as close as she could to McConaughey to see if he truly had no odor. Her verdict? He did not have an odor. She described his scent as "granola and good-living," saying it was sweet and uniquely his, not musty or crazy at all.
And if you’re wondering about hygiene, McConaughey once mentioned that he showers multiple times a day, so he’s got nothing to worry about in that department.
