Julianne Hough! The Dancing with the Stars alum is opening up about her high-profile relationship with Ryan Seacrest, and let’s just say, the details are juicier than you’d expect.

On the August 12th episode of the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard, Julianne candidly shares why her relationship with Ryan, which lasted from 2010 to 2013, didn’t stand the test of time. According to Julianne, a significant reason behind their breakup was her burning desire to establish her own career, separate from Ryan's shadow. Despite their glamorous lifestyle, Julianne felt she needed to build something on her own to truly feel accomplished.

She recalls the shock from those around her—“Brentwood moms and producers”—who were baffled by her decision to end things with Ryan. They thought her life was practically perfect, but Julianne wasn’t satisfied. She wanted to feel a sense of achievement that wasn’t handed to her by the relationship.

Julianne also reveals her fear of being seen as using Ryan for his fame. The “rug was swept up from underneath” her, and she found herself overwhelmed by the glitz and glamour of their world. Her insecurities led her to shrink back, as she didn’t want to be perceived as exploiting Ryan’s success.
